Hanuman Figurine
DESCRIPTION
Gloss porcelain figurine of the Monkey God, embellished with enamel and colours which pay homage to the richness of Hindu iconography.
Hanuman is the monkey God, the most prominent representative of the vanaras, a race of ape-men who lived in the forests of South India. They were great warriors; courageous, loyal, honest and gentle. Hanuman is the son of Vayu, the wind god in Hinduism, and he has great physical strength and extraordinary powers. This piece is finished in gloss porcelain and decorated with enamel in a colour palette which pays homage to the richness of Hindu iconography.
