Flamingos are one of the most stylised and striking birds. Its name means “flame-coloured”. Because of its fire-red colour, the ancient Egyptians believed that it was an embodiment of Ra, the sun god. Flamingos are generally long-lived birds, and a recent observational study has shown that they form lasting bonds of friendship with each other. The symbolism of flamingos and their instantly recognisable shape inspired Lladró artisans to depict them in this modern take. A pair of flamingos made in matt pink porcelain with highlights of 24kt yellow gold lustre. The result is a very evocative and decidedly contemporary design.
