Silex, "the facets of time”
Shaped by millennia, flint bears witness to the Earth’s ancient history. Like a hidden gem, it reveals a beauty both robust and fragile. Each facet unveils a nature in motion, slowly sculpted into unique, unpredictable forms. Between roughness and smoothness, its rich textures inspired Lalique to capture this essence in crystal.
Through vases and bowls, Lalique transposes the raw elegance of flint into refined creations. The satin-polished crystal, worked with multiple finishes, plays with light, contrasts, and reflections. Each piece becomes a tribute to the living memory of the Earth, balancing strength and poetry.
Lalique today is considered the jewel in the crown of the French glass and crystal industry since 1888 – a byword for excellence, a reputation earned through creating extraordinary pieces in crystal glass in its myriad variations. It is not for nothing that Lalique is also referred to as the ‘haute couture’ of crystal. Since 1922, every Lalique piece has been produced at their only factory, the Verrerie d'Alsace glassworks at Wingen-sur Moder, Alsace, in a French region with a strong historical glassmaking tradition.
