Dr. Arun Yogiraj and Ram Mandir

Dr. Arun Yogiraj is a renowned Indian sculptor celebrated for his exceptional ability to blend traditional Indian art with contemporary techniques. Starting at the age of 11, he began training in Shilpa Shastra, an ancient Indian technique that focuses on precise sculpting using traditional tools and measurement methods. His meticulous craftsmanship and devotion to preserving the sanctity of cultural traditions was evident when his 51-inch-tall rendition of the Ram Lalla Murti was chosen as the primary statue at the Ram Mandir located at the site of Ram Janmabhoomi, the mythical birthplace of Lord Rama.

The original Ram Lalla idol sculpted by Dr Arun Yogiraj was sculpted out of a three-billion-year-old black stone that is water-resistant and non-reacting to the acidic nature of milk when ritualistic milk baths are performed. (Credit: Wikipedia)
