Presented at the Universal Exhibitions of 1867 and again in 1878, this ceremonial piece asserts Baccarat’s technical mastery and aesthetic vision early on. Its annular silhouette draws inspiration from the antique heritage, evoking Greco-Roman ceramics, here reinterpreted in the purity of crystal. In 1909, at the International Exhibition of Eastern France in Nancy, a version crowned with a stopper appeared, extending the verticality of the whole to a height of 45,4 cm. With its open-worked form, the Halo carafe represents a true technical feat. Achieving perfect symmetry around the central void demands absolute control over the thickness and tension of the crystal. The object thus draws its power from this duality : the presence of the material and the mastery of its absence. The rich decoration envelops the surface in a network of deep, rhythmic cuts. Structured by starred diamonds, it amplifies the circulation of light in a precise dialogue between geometric rigor and brilliance.
