Horse's Head Sculpture
Horse's Head Sculpture
DESCRIPTION
Lalique Horse's Head Sculpture in clear crystal was originally designed by Marc Lalique in 1953. The majestic horse bust exudes power, grace and confidence.
Originally designed by Marc Lalique in 1953, the majestic Horse's Head sculpture demonstrates the exceptional know-how of the master craftsman. This outstanding figure is made of 54 pounds of pure, sparkling crystal. To obtain its spectacular and contemporary shine, Lalique glass master workers, as true sculptors, carve the piece by hand during more than 3 days and then polish it carefully for many hours. The beauty of the artist’s gesture is part of his quest for excellence.
Lalique today is considered the jewel in the crown of the French glass and crystal industry since 1888 – a byword for excellence, a reputation earned through creating extraordinary pieces in crystal glass in its myriad variations. It is not for nothing that Lalique is also referred to as the ‘haute couture’ of crystal. Since 1922, every Lalique piece has been produced at their only factory, the Verrerie d'Alsace glassworks at Wingen-sur Moder, Alsace, in a French region with a strong historical glassmaking tradition.
