A pair of Koi is often seen as a good luck charm in Eastern cultures and here they are depicted swimming around a tangle of seaweed as a few blossoms of lotus flowers float on the water's edge. The koi fishes are rendered to accurate detail including the markings on its back and the texture of the scales. The seaweed is finished with a gradation of enamel finishes for colour depth and the appearance of underwater plants.
