With Fang Lijun, Lalique reinvents the artist's iconic yawning bald man in a limited edition amber crystal using lost wax.

The result of the collaboration between artist Fang Lijun and Lalique, the sculpture “The Yawning Man” is created using the ancestral lost-wax technique. Enhanced by a subtle blend of two colours that do not combine in the same way from one piece to another, each creation thus reveals its uniqueness. Available in four different shades, these art creations are issued in limited editions of only 8 pieces each, making the collection truly exclusive.

Alongside Fang Lijun, Lalique reinvents in crystal the iconic painting Series 2 (No.2), in which the artist captures the figure of a bald man caught in a yawn. An emblematic piece that embodies the spirit of a China in the 1990s, a period of profound transformation. Between crystal and emotion, Lalique’s master glassmakers have applied their expertise to celebrate Fang Lijun’s art in all its uniqueness and modernity using the lost wax technique.

Lalique today is considered the jewel in the crown of the French glass and crystal industry since 1888 – a byword for excellence, a reputation earned through creating extraordinary pieces in crystal glass in its myriad variations. It is not for nothing that Lalique is also referred to as the ‘haute couture’ of crystal. Since 1922, every Lalique piece has been produced at their only factory, the Verrerie d'Alsace glassworks at Wingen-sur Moder, Alsace, in a French region with a strong historical glassmaking tradition.
