Theodosia – Respect is inspired by the observation of everyday scenes within contemporary urban culture. Chinese artist Yulong found the inspiration for this work during a street art event, surrounded by music, dance, and communities connected to hip-hop culture. Amid the energy of the environment, he was especially drawn to the quiet and close relationship between a child and an adult, linked through gestures of care, complicity, and mutual respect.

The title of the work refers to a song from the musical Hamilton, whose sensitivity and emotional depth connect directly with the spirit of the composition. As the artist himself explains: “Love is honoring the soul, boundaries, and unique journey of another.”

The piece translates this intimate moment into porcelain through a scene of strong visual and emotional impact.

Crafted in glazed white porcelain, the work incorporates faces finished in silver luster, introducing contrast and reinforcing the contemporary character of the creation. The technical complexity of the piece is defined both by its scale, the larger character stands nearly 60 centimeters tall, and by the treatment of the folds in the clothing, the proportions, and the balance of the overall composition.

This limited edition of 100 units is handmade following an artisanal process that requires great technical precision and the involvement of numerous porcelain specialists.
