When Baccarat and Chanel Collide
The Baccarat Olympus Pegasus Horse Sculpture Limited Edition is a breathtaking testament to French artisan excellence, marking a rare three-way collaboration between the legendary crystal maker Baccarat and two of Chanel’s renowned Métiers d’art houses: Maison Lemarié and Maison Goossens. Created as a tribute to the Year of the Horse in 2026, this monumental sculpture stands over 77cm tall and serves as a bold reinterpretation of the mythological winged horse. It represents a fusion of distinct crafts, blending the cold, luminous purity of crystal with the organic warmth of feathers and the structural elegance of goldsmithing, resulting in a piece that feels both grounded and ethereal.
The sculpture’s unique plumage and structure distinguish it from any previous Baccarat creation. Maison Lemarié, famous for their haute couture feather and flower work, hand-assembled the creature’s spectacular wings using exactly 290 goose feathers and 330 duck plumes. These feathers were individually trimmed and shaped to create a texture of astonishingly ethereal lightness that contrasts with the heavy crystal body.
Supporting this intricate wing structure is a custom armature crafted by Maison Goossens, the historic goldsmith and jeweller. They created a metal framework dipped in 24-carat gold and delicately patinated, providing a warm, regal connection between the feathers and the crystal. The armature also houses a single signature baccarat red knob crystal.
Crystalline Chivalry
At the heart of the masterpiece is the horse itself, sculpted from a single block of clear Baccarat crystal, a technical feat executed by a Meilleur Ouvrier de France (MOF) (Best Craftsman of France). The body captures the muscular tension and movement of the animal in frozen flight, requiring a custom mold and countless hours of hand-cutting to achieve its final form.
Strictly limited to just 8 numbered pieces worldwide, the Olympus Pegasus is both an irreplaceable decorative object and an investment-grade work of art, embodying the pinnacle of "savoir-faire" passed down through generations of French artisans.
